Want to help? Big Give returns to St. Clair County in 2025. Here's what to know.

The Community Foundation of St. Clair County proudly announced the return of The Big Give, a 24-hour giving rally designed to celebrate local philanthropy. The last Big Give was in 2021.

“The 2021 Big Give brought nonprofits together and raised over $700,000 in just 24 hours,” said Hale Walker, a former foundation board chair. “In total, the past five giving days have generated more than $2.2 million for local organizations. This year, we hope to make an even bigger impact.”

What is The Big Give?

The Big Give supports a range of causes in St. Clair County.

“The Big Give is a powerful way to support multiple charities in one place, on one special day,” said Patti Manley, chair of the foundation. “It’s a simple and exciting way to give back, with the added bonus of multiplying your impact through various prize pools and matching funds. Giving is easy — just follow your heart on May 14 and support the causes that matter most to you.”

Beyond fundraising, The Big Give raises awareness of the work being done by local nonprofits and fosters a sense of community support.

What organizations will benefit from The Big Give?

More than 60 nonprofits will come together May 14 for the day of giving.

Area nonprofits represent causes, including education, the environment, caring for seniors, churches, the arts, animal welfare and more. A full list of participating nonprofits is also listed on the event website.

How does The Big Give work?

The Big Give offers both online and in-person giving opportunities. Donations can be made online from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. May 14 at www.thebiggivescc.com or in person at the Community Foundation, 500 Water St., Port Huron.

Participating nonprofits will receive “bonus pool” funds at the end of the event, increasing the impact of every dollar donated.

This opportunity is made possible by supporters including the Women’s Initiative, St. Clair Endowment Funds, The Knowlton Foundation Fund, Redmond Family Fund, and the James C. Acheson Foundation. Their commitment ensures that local nonprofits receive additional funding beyond direct donations.

Visit www.thebiggivescc.com to learn how you or your business can take part. If you would like to plan your giving in advance from a donor advised fund or a qualified charitable distribution from an IRA, please reach out to Jackie Hanton, the foundation’s vice president.
