If packaged Ritz crackers are part of your hurricane supplies, or you like keeping a couple in a desk drawer for those afternoon hunger pains, you might want to be aware of a recall, especially if you suffer from food allergies.
The Food and Drug Administration announced July 8 a voluntary recall issued by Mondelēz Global for four carton sizes of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker sandwiches.
The affected cartons may be incorrectly labeled as the cheese variety, the FDA said.

What Ritz crackers were recalled?
Four carton sizes of Ritz Peanut Cutter Cracker Sandwiches were recalled:
“The recall was initiated after Mondelēz Global LLC discovered that film packaging rolls used to package individually wrapped products containing peanut butter may contain defects due to a supplier error.”
No reports of illness or injury have been reported.

Recalled Ritz crackers pose allergy risk for some consumers
“The affected cartons include individually wrapped packs that may be incorrectly labeled as cheese variety even though the product may be a peanut butter variety,” the FDA said.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product.”
The FDA added that the outer cartons affected are labeled correctly and provide an allergen advisory statement indicating the product “contains peanuts.”

The FDA said the affected cartons were manufactured in the United States and sold nationwide.
What should I do if I bought the recalled Ritz crackers?
Consumers who have a peanut allergy should not eat these products and should discard them, the FDA said.
